Charles was born in 1943 in Stratford-Upon-Avon, the only son of the artist and metal craftsman Hague Willmott. He studied at the Birmingham College of Art but he is mostly self taught. He works mainly in oil on canvas and bases himself in a small studio in rural Warwickshire. Singularly dedicated to the Orient and its culture, his work has been exhibited in England, Switzerland and Japan. His first one-man show was unique in featuring Japan's national sport, Sumo. He captures the essence of beauty and balletic movement superbly and his editions sell very successfully.
