David Farrant was born in London in 1938. Following his training at Central St.Martin's, London, he embarked on a career which has included exhibitions at the National Portait Gallery and the Mall Gallery with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. He has built a reputation as one of the finest painters of portraiture in the country and has work in collections all around the world. His preferred medium is acrylics or oios and his large scale compositions are truly impressive.
David's primary inspiration stems from everyday scenes of human interaction, and he reproduces these against a living background of muted colours and complex shadows, in the hope that they "carry a mood and the possibility of an unfinished story which the viewer can share".
